Joseph Lau, the billionaire Hong Kong tycoon that heads developer Chinese Estates Holdings Ltd.

(0127.HK), will face prosecution in Macau over charges of bribery and money laundering linked to a land deal in Asia's gambling capital, the latest high-profile corruption case involving a Hong Kong property company.Macau's lower court rejected Lau's request to discharge the accusation that he or his company offered a bribe to a jailed former senior official in Macau in connection with a government tender for five plots."As a result, the case will be remitted to the Court of First Instance of Macau for trial in due course," Chinese Estates said in a statement to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange late Wednesday.The company and Lau couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
