Taiwanese personal computer maker Asustek Computer Inc. (2357.TW) said Monday that first-quarter net profit rose 21% from a year earlier, beating analyst estimates, as growing tablet sales helped it record the seventh consecutive quarter of double-digit earnings growth.The world's fifth-largest PC maker by shipments has made an aggressive push into new mobile products like tablets and touchscreen hybrid laptops, amid declining demand for traditional PCs.Worldwide PC shipments fell 13.9% in the first quarter, according to IDC, the steepest decline since the market research firm began tracking the data in 1994.Asustek has seen its sales rise over the past half year with the help of a partnership with Google Inc. on the popular Nexus 7 tablet, as well as competitively priced Windows 8 touchscreen laptops and tablets.
