Walgreen Will Remain in CVS's Pharmacy Benefit Management Unit's Retail Network

Walgreen Co. (WAG) extended its agreement to remain a network pharmacy provider in CVS Caremark Corp.'s (CVS) national pharmacy benefit management retail network.Kermit Crawford, president of Walgreen's pharmacy, health and wellness arm, said the multiyear pact meets the drugstore giant's "business objectives, remains consistent with our principles of receiving predictable and fair reimbursement for the services and value we provide and helps drive cost-effective pricing for payers and patients."Further terms of the agreement weren't provided.Alliances in the health-care sector have been in focus lately as the industry deals with a wave of major generic drug introductions and other issues.
