AMD Reports $20 Million Loss, But Beats Forecasts

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. on Thursday reported a first-quarter loss of $20 million, or 3 cents a share, on $1.4 billion in revenue. During the same period a year ago, the chipmaker lost $146 million, or 19 cents a share, on sales of $1.09 billion. Excluding one-time items, AMD would have earned 2 cents a share. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had forecast AMD to break even on a per-share basis and post $1.34 billion in revenue.
