U.S. Stocks Modestly Ahead After Home Sales Data

NEW YORK -- U.S. stocks pulled mildly higher after a positive report on the troubled housing market, with new home sales better than anticipated in October. Materials and consumer discretionary shares fronted Wall Street's limited gains. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 19.35 points to 10,453.06. The S&P 500 Index gained 2.86 points to 1,108.51, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 7.6 points to 2,176.82.
