U.S. Stocks Ease Pullback After Factory Order Data

NEW YORK -- U.S. stocks pared early Tuesday losses after the government estimated orders for U.S. goods increased 0.9% in September. The better-than-expected report had the stock indexes only lightly trimming a downward slide, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average off 18.67 points to 9,770.77. The S&P 500 Index fell 1.05 points to 1,041.83, while the Nasdaq Composite shed 4.14 points to 2,045.06.
