U.S. Stock Rally Fuels Dow Rise Above 10,000

NEW YORK -- U.S. stocks rallied to fresh session highs in Thursday afternoon trade, with consumer discretionary shares leading the gains that came after another round of positive economic data. Topping the 10,000 level for the first time in more than a week, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose more than 200 points, and was lately up 190 points, or 1.9%, at 9,992.66. The S&P 500 rose 17.73 points, or 1.7%, to 1,064.33, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 46.69 points, or 2.3%, to 2,102.26.
