By Kate Gibson
MarketWatch Pulse
NEW YORK -- U.S. stocks did a double-take and headed back higher Wednesday afternoon after the Federal Reserve did as expected, keeping interest rates at near zero and sticking with its 'extended period' wording. Up more than 100 points ahead of the Fed statement, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had shaved half its gains only to turn back and climb higher as the afternoon continued. The Dow lately stood at 9,885.57, up 113.66 points. The S&P 500 Index climbed 11.29 points to 1,056.70. The Nasdaq Composite was up 15.82 points at 2,073.14.
