Public Service Enterprise Earnings Drop

NEW YORK -- Public Service Enterprise Group said Wednesday that third-quarter earnings were $488 million, or 96 cents a share, compared to $656 million, or $1.29 a share, in the same period a year ago. Earnings from continuing operations were 96 cents compared to 94 cents. Analysts polled by FactSet Research estimated, on average, earnings per share of 90 cents. The utility says it will be difficult to meet the high end of its 2009 earnings per share range of $3.00-$3.25.
