CORTLAND, N.Y.--Marietta Corp., best known for making small bottles of shampoo and other items for hotels, is laying off 130 workers at its upstate New York headquarters.

Plant manager Matt Dugat says the employees losing their jobs range from senior management to front line workers.

The privately held company says it isn't making enough money, so the workers were let go to improve competitiveness and ensure Marietta's long term prospects.

All the employees will receive severance payments.

In June 2007, Marietta added 200 jobs to meet demands at that time.

About 900 people work at Marietta's headquarters in Cortland. The company also does contract manufacturing for companies like Tide, All and Unilever.
