T-Mobile is expected to announce new phone using Google's (GOOG) Android operating system next week, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The phone is rumored to be called the myTouch 3G and will be the second Android-based phone offered by the carrier. It's expected to be available for purchase this summer.

T-Mobile also debuted the first Android-powered phone, the G1, last October.

The carrier had been mentioning a second device for some time now, according to the report in the Journal.

This new phone in the U.S. is actually the same design as one that is already on sale in the UK: the HTC Magic, which has an Apple (AAPL) iPhone-like touch screen instead of a keyboard, according to the Journal.

The myTouch 3G will be competing with Palm's (PALM) new Pre smartphone this summer as well as the new Apple iPhone 3G S, which will be released Friday.  Research in Motion (RIMM) also has an upcoming phone, the BlackBerry Tour, that will be available to Verizon (VZ) and Sprint (S) users next month.

T-Mobile is the mobile communications subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom (DT).
