Report: GM May End Sponsorship of Buick Open
By Matt Egan
FOXBusiness
The Buick Open may soon need a new name.
According to The Associated Press, General Motors plans to end its sponsorship of the golf tournament after more than a half-century.
General Motors, which recently emerged from bankruptcy court in breakneck speed, plans to announce the decision after this week’s Buick Open, the AP reported.
Cutting back on sponsorships is nothing new for GM, which last year ended a nine-year endorsement deal with golfing great Tiger Woods.
While GM has escaped Chapter 11, some of the auto maker’s less-desirable assets remain in bankruptcy limbo as “Old GM” (GMGMQ).
