Taiwan Cabinet OKs China Financial Firms To Open Local Branches

TAIPEI -(Dow Jones)- Taiwan Premier Wu Den-yih has approved the opening of the island's financial sector to investment from China, a cabinet official told Dow Jones Newswires on Friday.
"The premier has given his nod to the opening (of Taiwan's financial sector,)" and Financial Supervisory Commission officials will brief the legislature before unveiling related details by the end of this month, said the official, who declined to be identified.
