Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) is reportedly in active talks with Yahoo Inc. (YHOO) Friday and has increased its bid for the Web pioneer.
Microsoft upped its offer "by several dollars" per share, according to a New York Times report, which relies on unnamed sources.
The software maker offered to buy Yahoo for $31 per share, or $44.6 billion, at the beginning of February. That offer is currently valued at $42.3 billion, or $29.40 per share.
Microsoft has privately considered raising its offer to $33 per share, but some shareholders are looking for $35 to $37 a share, according to the Times.
