Market Winners & Losers: Zions Bancorp, Hartford Financial Services

The major indices again ended mixed, with the Dow and S&P slipping and the Nasdaq ending virtually flat. The Dow closed down 0.1%, the S&P lost 0.3% and the Nasdaq ended a fraction into positive territory.
Here are Tuesday’s winners and losers:
Winners
Zions Bancorp (ZION)
The regional bank rose 6% after Bernstein gave the company an outperform rating. ZION shares last traded at $18.02, up $1.02
on the day.
Lennar Corp. (LEN)
The home builder led the sector with a 5.5% gain Tuesday. LEN shares closed at $15.13, a gain of 79 cents on the day.
AK Steel Holding Corp. (AKS)
Takeover talks pushed the steel manufacturer up 4.1% Tuesday. AKS shares finished the session at $20.19, up 80 cents on the
day.
Akamai Technologies Inc. (AKAM)
Akamai is another stock that moved in a positive direction Tuesday as news of a possible acquisition by Google boosted shares
by 3.4%. AKAM ended Tuesday at $20.81, a gain of 68 cents on the day.
United State Steel Corp. (X)
U.S. steel rebounded from yesterday’s loss, with shares gaining 3.3%. X shares last traded at $42.81, up $1.40 on the day.
Losers
Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. (HIG)
A gloomy analyst report issued by Credit Suisse sent shares of Hartford Financial Services down by 6.8% Tuesday. HIG shares
closed at $26.60, down $1.93 on the day.
Genworth Financial Inc. (GNW)
The financial company fell 6.3% on Tuesday, with shares finished the session at $11.05 – a loss of 74 cents on the day.
MetroPCS Communications Inc. (PCS)
The pay-as-you-go phone provider fell 5.9% after AT&T announced it a less-pricey pre-paid plan service. PCS shares ended
Tuesday at $7.54, down 47 cents on the day.
Sprint Nextel Corp. (S)
Sprint is another wireless communications provider that saw its shares sink on Tuesday, with the stock closing down 4.8%.
Sprint shares last traded at $3.41, a loss of 17 cents on the day.
MEMC Electronic Materials Inc. (WFR)
The semiconductor manufacturer posted a 4.7% loss Tuesday. WFR shares closed at $15.67, down 77 cents on the day.
