Market Winners & Losers: Cabot Oil & Gas, Wynn Resorts

    The major indexes ended mixed after early economic data showed an increase in home sales but a drop in consumer confidence. The Dow closed up 0.1%, while the Nasdaq fell 1.2% and the S&P dropped 0.3%.

    Here are Tuesday’s winners and losers:

    Winners

    Cabot Oil & Gas Corp. (COG)
    A JPMorgan upgrade boosted the oil and gas company’s shares by 9.8%. COG shares last traded at $42.05, up $3.74 on the day.

    Coventry Health Care Inc. (CVH)
    The health-care company led the sector’s gains, adding 8.5% to its stock on Tuesday. CVH shares closed at $19.95, a gain of $1.56 on the day.

    Textron Inc. (TXT)
    The defense conglomerate gained 7.1% after its quarterly earnings-per-share beat the Street’s expectations. Textron shares ended the session at $19.67 up $1.31 on the day.

    Lorillard Inc. (LO)
    The cigarette manufacturer bounced back from Monday’s losses to close the trading session up 6%. Lorillard shares finished Tuesday at $78.64, a gain of 4.42 on the day.

    Bemis Co. Inc. (BMS)
    The packing manufacturer added 4.9% after reporting upping its guidance. Bemis last traded at $27.00, up $1.25 on the day.

    Losers

    Wynn Resorts Ltd. (WYNN)
    The casino development company saw its shares fall 11% after quarterly net revenue fell more than 30%. WYNN shares closed at $56.13, a loss of $6.94 on the day.

    AK Steel Holding Corp. (AKS)
    The steel company plummeted 8.6%, dragging the sector into the red. AKS shares ended the session at $17.18, down $1.61 on the day.

    Limited Brands Inc. (LTD)
    The retailer sank 8.1% on its downwardly-revised same-store sales projections. Limited shares finished Tuesday at $17.91, a loss of $1.58 on the day.

    United States Steel Inc. (X)
    Another steel company trading lower Tuesday, United States Steel shares suffered a 7.8% loss. US Steel shares last traded at $37.41, down $3.17 on the day.

    MEMC Electronic Materials Corp. (WFR)
    The silicon-wafer manufacturer continued its slide in the red, dropping another 7.1% on Tuesday. WFR shares closed at $12.62, a loss of 97 cents on the day.
