Market Winners & Losers: AMD, Autodesk

The major indexes ended Wednesday’s trading session in negative territory. The Dow closed down 0.1%, the S&P 500 fell 0.1% and the Nasdaq dropped 0.5%.
Here are Wednesday’s winners and losers:
Winners
Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD)
The chip manufacturer’s shares soared 10.6% after the company announced plans to reduce debt. AMD shares last traded at $7.32,
a gain of 70 cents on the day.
MBIA Inc. (MBI)
The insurer continued its string of big gains, adding 10.1% to its share price on Wednesday. MBI shares closed at $3.82, up
35 cents on the day.
E*Trade Financial Corp. (ETFC)
The online financial services provider jumped 9% on rumors of a possible deal with TD Ameritrade. ETFC shares finished traded
at $1.69 a gain, of 14 cents on the day.
Monster Worldwide Inc. (MWW)
News that employment solutions provider the may be a candidate for a takeover pushed the stock up 7.1%. MWW shares ended Wednesday
at $16.29, up $1.08 on the day.
SLM Corp. (SLM)
The student loan provider added 7.1%, leading the sector Wednesday. SLM shares last traded at $11.51, a gain of 76 cents on
the day.
Losers
Autodesk Inc. (ADSK)
Future guidance dropped the software company 10.4%. ADSK shares closed at $24.20 a loss of $2.80 on the day.
Legg Mason Inc. (LM)
The asset management company saw its shares slip 3.5% Wednesday. LM shares ended the session at $30.20, down $1.10 on the
day.
Tenet Healthcare Corp. (THC)
The health care services provider sank 3.3%, leading the sector lower. THC shares finished Wednesday at $5.29, a loss of 18
cents on the day.
Eastman Kodak (EK)
The film and camera developer dipped 3.3%. EK shares last traded at $4.13, down 14 cents on the day.
New York Times Co. (NYT)
The newspaper publisher posted a 3.1% loss, closing at $9.25, a loss of 30 cents on the day.
