Market Winners & Losers: AIG, Moody's

The major indices start the week out with mixed results, as the Dow closed down 0.4%, the S&P lost 0.3% and the Nasdaq gained 0.2%.
Here are Monday’s winners and losers:
Winners
American International Group Inc. (AIG)
The insurance giant’s shares moved up by 21.3% on news that the government might restructure its bailout package. AIG shares
last traded at $48.40, up $8.49 on the day.
Apollo Group Inc. (APOL)
The online educator benefited from some positive words from the Government Accountability Office, with shares gaining 8.3%
Monday. APOL shares closed at $74.74, a gain of $5.72 on the day.
E*Trade Financial Corp. (ETFC)
The online financial-services provider continued its move away from yearly lows, adding another 8.2%. ETFC shares ended trading
at $1.99, up 15 cents on the day.
Tellabs Inc. (TLAB)
The communications-equipment provider hit a 52-week high as shares rose 8.1%. TLAB shares finished Monday at $7.44, a gain
of 56 cents on the day.
DeVry Inc. (DV)
Another online educator benefiting from the Government Accountability Office’s report, shares of DeVry saw an 8.1% price increase
Monday. DV shares last traded at $56.76, up $4.26.
Losers
Moody’s Corp. (MCO)
The ratings company fell 5.7% on news that it will be attending a hearing of insurance regulators it had originally declined.
MCO shares closed at $22.24, down $1.35 on the day.
Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI)
The auto-parts manufacturer continued on its downward path, falling 4.2% on Monday. JCI shares last traded at $26.23 down
$1.15 on the day.
Dell Inc. (DELL)
The computer manufacturer’s purchase of Perot didn’t sit well with investors and the stock fell 4.1%. DELL shares ended Monday
at $16.01, down 68 cents on the day.
State Street Corp. (STT)
The financial-holding company closed with a 3.9% loss, leading the sector lower Monday. STT shares finished trading at $52.26,
a loss of $2.13 on the day.
Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. (GT)
The tire manufacturer saw its stock fall 3.7%, or 63 cents, to settle at $16.45.
