TOKYO -(Dow Jones)- Japan's Transport Ministry is likely to announce details of a plan by Toyota Motor Corp. (7203.TO) to recall its gasoline-electric hybrid Prius later Tuesday, a person familiar with the matter said.
The recall comes as the Japanese auto maker seeks to cope with ongoing recalls affecting over 8 million cars in the U.S., Europe, China and other markets across a range of models. Those recalls, to fix problems related to gas pedals, could cost up to $2 billion, Toyota said last week.
The person familiar with the matter said that Toyota itself will also likely hold a briefing in Tokyo on the Prius recall later Tuesday.
