Japan Shares Slip As JAL Shares Lose 4%

TOKYO -- Japanese shares traded mainly lower Tuesday morning, with shares of ailing Japan Airlines Corp. among the bigger losers, down 4.2%. Japan's Nikkei 225 Average fell 0.1% to 9,487.80, while the Topix was nearly flat at 838.81. But shares of telecommunication companies edged higher, with KDDI Corp. [s:kddif] up 0.9%, and Softbank Corp. [s:sftbf] gaining 1.2%. South Korea's Kospi rose 0.2%, and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 added 0.8% following gains on Wall Street.
