GM U.S. Oct. Sales Rises 4.1% To 177,603 Vehicles

SAN FRANCISCO -- General Motors said on Tuesday total sales rose to 177,603 units in October from 170,585 a year ago, marking the first year-on-year gain since January 2008. Car sales slid by 13% to 63,935 units while truck sales increased 17% to 113,668. Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac sales accounted for 95% of sales last month, compared with 85% in October 2008, the Detroit automaker said.
