European Shares Advance In Early Trading

LONDON -- European shares moved higher for the fifth time in six sessions on Wednesday, with autos leading the advance. Daimler shares were up 1.4% and BMW shares gained 1.6%. Elsewhere, shares of ITV climbed 2.9% after the television broadcaster named Archie Norman as its new chairman. The U.K. FTSE 100 index advanced 0.3% to 5,363.38, the German DAX index rose 0.6% to 5,812.76 and the French CAC-40 index rose 0.6% to 3,852.89.
