    Airlines Stocks Gain As Oil, Broader Market Dip

      SAN FRANCISCO -- Airline stocks carved out early gains Friday, bucking a mild retreat in the broader market as the price of oil pulled back below $77 a barrel. The NYSE Arca Airline Index gained almost 1% to 26.22 points with 10 of its 13 components trading higher. AirTran Holdings was the hardest hit, down 3.5% to $4.15 while UAL Corp. and US Airways led advancers, up almost 2% each.
