Airline Stocks Mixed As Crude Prices Dip To $78

NEW YORK - Airline stocks were mixed Friday morning as benchmark oil prices declined. At last check, the NYSE Arca Airline Index was virtually flat at 24.59 points with six of its 13 components trading up. Shares of United parent UAL Corp. rose 1.5% to $6.66, Continental added 1.6% to $11.93 and Delta climbed 1.4% to $11.93. Shares of US Airways fell 1% to $2.93, Southwest shed a faction to $8.31 and Gol Linhas lost almost 2% to $11.21. Crude-oil futures were down 2% to about $78 a barrel in electronic trading.
