Airline Stocks Mixed; US Airways Climbs

NEW YORK - Airline stocks were mixed Tuesday morning with US Airways shares rising ahead of the group. At last check, the NYSE Arca Airline Index added less than 1% to 26.73 with six of its 13 components trading up. US Airways rose 3% to $3.19 after the carrier said it would defer aircraft deliveries and arranged new credit facilities to shore up is 2009 and 2010 balance sheets. Other legacy carriers posted small gains, with American parent AMR Corp. up 2 cents to $5.58 and Continental adding a nickel to $13.37. Declining were shares of Delta , Southwest and JetBlue
