Going-Concern Statement

Just like you never want to hear a doctor say "oops" in the operating room, you never want to see a going-concern statement in a financial report about a company you own. Accountants throw these in when they've been over the books, talked to customers, and checked the horoscopes and have concluded there is "substantial doubt" about a company's ability to remain in business. In short, don't blame the accountants if the company files for bankruptcy protection.

You¿d reckon that a going-concern statement would be enough to send investors running to the exits, but it's not. True, many large institutions automatically bail when an existing company gets slapped with one of these, but many individuals (often wrongly) take a chance they know more than the bean counters.

During the tech boom of the late 1990s, many companies actually went public even though they had been hit with going-concern statements. Many of those companies subsequently disappeared. Enough said.

DUBLIN, Ireland, Jul 28, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) ----Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/473eb4/bce_inc_it_sale) has announced the addition of the "BCE Inc. - IT Sales Opportunities - 2008" report to their offering.

BCE Inc, is Canada based communications services company providing customer connections to residential and business customers in Canada. Under the Bell brand, the company provides consumers with simple solutions to communications needs, including telephone services, wireless, high-speed Internet, digital television and voice over IP. Bell offers comprehensive information and communications technology (ICT) solutions to Canada's leading large enterprises, small and medium businesses (SMBs) and public sector organizations in Canada and abroad. Bell Canada operates through three segments: Bell Wireline, Bell Wireless and Bell Aliant.

Industry trends and drivers have a direct or indirect affect on IT spending of all companies operating within an industry. For example - increase in demand for WiMax services might result in increase in demand for the required infrastructure and access equipments by BCE. Thus, we can conclude that industry spending on any particular IT product or service is an important indicator of the criticality of that product or service for the industry. Based on the IT spend information available in 'TechNavio', we have computed a 'criticality score' for various IT products and services, for BCE.

Further, various company level developments and events are important indicators of selling opportunities and drive the sales of IT products and services. For example - an acquisition by BCE might result in opportunities for IT migration and integration services. By tracking these sales drivers (using 'TechNavio'), we have arrived at a demand score for each product and service.

Through an in-depth analysis of industry trends and drivers and company level developments and events, we have made the 'IT Selling Opportunities Map' for hardware (including telecom equipment), software and IT services for BCE. These maps have been divided into four zones representing Level I, Level II and Level III opportunity areas. Level I opportunity areas have the highest scores and hence, there is a high probability that BCE will buy these products and services. Level II opportunity areas have lower scores and hence, lower probability to sell to BCE. Level III opportunities have the lowest scores and hence, unlikely to sell to BCE.

The report is meant for IT and telecom equipment vendors and intends to help them identify selling opportunities within the company. Furthermore, the identified sales drivers can be used to penetrate these accounts or increase current share of the customers wallet. Also, the report lists key IT spending decision makers, which will enable salesperson to directly contact the key executives within the company.
