HONG KONG -- China Unicom Ltd. , China's second-largest cellular operator by subscribers, said Friday in a filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that its net profit for the first nine months of the year totaled 9.34 billion yuan ($1.37 billion), or 0.39 yuan a share. Revenue for the nine months was 114.93 billion yuan. The results reflect last year's merger with fixed-line operator China Netcom Group Corp. The average monthly revenue per cell phone customer totaled 41.6 yuan, while broadband average monthly revenue per user was 59.5 yuan, the company said. China Unicom previously signed a three-year non-exclusive deal to sell Apple's iPhone, the 3G version of which officially went on sale in China today.
