Alcatel's Net Loss Grows To 182 Million Euros

FRANKFURT -- Alcatel Lucent , the Paris-based telecom equipment firm, said Friday its net loss widened to 182 million euros ($270 million) in the third quarter from a loss of 40 million euros in the same period a year ago. Revenue fell 9.3% to 3.69 billion euros. The company said it still expects the global telecommunications equipment and related services market to be down between 8% and 12% at constant currency in 2009. Alcatel also expects an adjusted operating income around break-even this year.
