VeriSign Swings To Third-quarter Profit

SAN FRANCISCO -- VeriSign Inc. said Thursday it swung to a third-quarter profit of $53.6 million, or 28 cents a share, from a loss of $201.1 million or $1.03 a share a year ago. Excluding one-time items, the company would have reported a profit of 33 cents a share for the latest quarter. The Mountain View, Calif.-based provider of Internet-infrastructure services said revenue for the period ended Sept. 30 rose to $258 million from $245.9 million. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters had estimated VeriSign would post third-quarter earnings of 32 cents a share, and $258.8 million in revenue.
