Going-Concern Statement

Just like you never want to hear a doctor say "oops" in the operating room, you never want to see a going-concern statement in a financial report about a company you own. Accountants throw these in when they've been over the books, talked to customers, and checked the horoscopes and have concluded there is "substantial doubt" about a company's ability to remain in business. In short, don't blame the accountants if the company files for bankruptcy protection.

You¿d reckon that a going-concern statement would be enough to send investors running to the exits, but it's not. True, many large institutions automatically bail when an existing company gets slapped with one of these, but many individuals (often wrongly) take a chance they know more than the bean counters.

During the tech boom of the late 1990s, many companies actually went public even though they had been hit with going-concern statements. Many of those companies subsequently disappeared. Enough said.

TriAccess Technologies Teams With Triquint Semiconductor's Commercial Foundry Business Unit to Launch Full-Scale Production of TAT 7461 RFIC Drop Amplifier for the CATV Market

SANTA ROSA, Calif., Jun 23, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) ----TriAccess Technologies, a leading provider of CATV and FTTH (Fiber-To-The-Home) radio frequency integrated circuits (RFIC) for amplifying high quality multimedia content, has introduced a new high performance, low noise 75 Ohm drop amplifier for hybrid fiber/coax CATV network applications. Volume shipments of the TAT 7461 began in May.

The company also announced a supply agreement with TriQuint Semiconductor's Commercial Foundry Business Unit that formalizes the relationship for manufacture of TriAccess products using TriQuint's six-inch GaAs foundry process. With its solid supply chain relationships, TriAccess can support output delivery of volume orders in a launch window of four to eight weeks while maintaining optimum performance, reliability and quality. The TAT 7461 utilizes a proven TriQuint GaAs foundry technology from which over 100 million RFICs have been fielded.

"Given our current customer orders and forecasts, letters of intent, and supply agreements to date, we anticipate production volumes to range between two and three million units in the upcoming year," said Chris Day, President and CTO of TriAccess Technologies of the new TAT 7461. "There is market demand today for a drop-in solution to existing footprints with incredibly short lead times. With TriQuint we have in place a solid supply chain system that can deliver our complete portfolio of products with industry-leading part-to-part consistency and unconditional stability."

The TAT 7461 is a single-ended 1 GHz RFIC drop amplifier designed to meet the stringent requirements of North American CATV MSOs that can be deployed in individual homes as well as in multiple 75 Ohm general purpose applications. The TAT 7461 provides exceptional gain and impedance consistency over temperature and production volumes. It also uses active bias control to improve part-to-part consistency. This new product complements the company's existing TAT 7460 (50-2600 MHz) single ended RFIC drop amplifier designed for combined CATV and FTTH satellite RF overlay applications in global networks.

"In today's market, given the fast-changing requirements of CATV system operators, the big differentiator is delivery," said Jim Kegerries, COO of TriAccess Technologies. "TriAccess is intently focused on CATV and has shipped more than 500,000 parts with an unprecedented overall average lead-time of from 30 to 60 days. Our products meet the very high standards, specifications and speed-to-market requirements that system operators have come to expect in time for major Telco-competitive bids."
