    NYSE Short Interest Positions Increase

      SAN FRANCISCO -- NYSE Euronext Inc. said late Tuesday that short interest positions on the New York Stock Exchange rose to 13.18 billion shares as of Nov. 13 from 12.88 billion shares as of Oct. 30. The exchange said that short interest on Nov. 13 represented 3.45% of total shares outstanding. A short sale is a bet by an investor that the stock's price will fall.
