NYSE Short Interest Positions Decline

SAN FRANCISCO -- NYSE Euronext Inc. said late Tuesday that short interest positions on the New York Stock Exchange fell to 13.01 billion shares as of Oct. 30, from 13.45 billion shares as of Oct. 15. The exchange said that short interest on Oct. 30 represented 3.4% of total shares outstanding.
