By Erik Berte
FOXBusiness
A week after releasing its free Windows security program, Microsoft (MSFT) says the software has been downloaded over 1.5 million times.
Microsoft Security Essentials is a basic antivirus program for Windows computers that protects from viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.
The free security software could put some pressure on other antivirus software makers, such as McAfee (MFE) and Symantec (SYMC), which do not offer their software for free.
