SEOUL -(Dow Jones)- LG Display Co. (034220.SE) may raise some of its panel prices due to strong demand and tight supply following the recent earthquake in Taiwan, Chief Executive Kwon Young-soo said Friday.
"(LG Display) didn't expect much demand due to typically low seasonality, but the prices won't likely fall and we may even increase some panel prices," Kwon told reporters after a general shareholders' meeting.
Kwon also said the flat-panel maker will decide sometime this month on whether it would further expand its 8th-generation liquid crystal display plant to meet robust demand.
He also said the Chinese government is expected to give final approval for foreign companies to set up plants on the mainland sometime in March.
"It seems positive that the Chinese government will give us (LG Display) the approval," Kwon said.
