IBM Enters Online Software Battle
FOXBusiness
In a bid to directly compete with the growing online application industry, IBM (IBM) released a version of its office suite Lotus Notes.
Called LotusLive iNotes, IBM said the office suit will include email, calendar and contact management functions that don't "require all of the capabilities of full-featured e-mail and collaboration software."
The release of online Lotus Notes is a direct attack against the office suites of Microsoft (MSFT) and Google (GOOG), who have released online, but featured versions of their respective suites
IBM said it will price LotusLive iNotes at $3 a month, compared with Google Apps being priced at $50 a year. Microsoft is previewing a version of Office for online use, but has not priced it as of yet.
