EU Hearing Set for Dec. 10 on Oracle Sun Deal
By Darryl R. Isherwood
FOXBusiness
European Union regulators have set Dec. 10 for the review of the proposed $7 billion purchase of Sun Microsystems Inc.(JAVA) by Oracle (ORCL), Reuters reported.
The European Commission has objected to the deal, saying the combination of the two firms database products could thwart competition in the database market, a regulatory filing by Sun showed.
Last week, the commission extended the deadline for reviewing the plan to Jan. 27 after Oracle sought more time to make its case that the deal is not anti-competitive.
