Google, Chips Lead Early Tech Rally

SAN FRANCISCO (MaketWatch) - Technology stocks edged higher Monday morning, powered by gains in semiconductor shares. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 0.5% to 2,150, while the Morgan Stanley High Tech 35 Index was up 0.7%. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index added 1.5%, as shares of Advanced Micro Devices jumped more than 5%. Meanwhile, Google Inc. rose 1.3% as three brokers raised their price estimates for the Internet giant.
