Fitch Affirms Microsoft At 'AA+'; Outlook Stable
By Sue Chang
MarketWatch Pulse
SAN FRANCISCO -- Fitch Ratings on Tuesday affirmed Microsoft Corp.'s long-term issuer default rating at AA+ and its short-term IDR at F1+. The ratings agency noted that Microsoft is a leader in the software market with "unparalleled" financial performance. "The company's sizable liquidity and superior credit profile provide a significant degree of financial flexibility within current ratings," said Fitch in a statement. Microsoft is expected to become more active with acquisitions and share buybacks than it has been during the economic downturn but, overall, its activity is likely to remain conservative relative to its total liquidity and free cash flow profile, according to Fitch.
