Cobham Finds Non-conforming Microchip In Product
By Sarah Turner
MarketWatch Pulse
LONDON -- Cobham said Friday that it has identified that a limited quantity of a non-conforming microchips have been introduced into the supply chain for its SEAWARS product. This is a water-activated release mechanism used by military aviators as part of their personal safety and survivability gear. The non-conforming microchip was supplied by an electronics components broker and there have been no known SEAWARS failures due to this non-conforming microchip. Customers have been informed that there is the potential presence of a non-conforming microchip and the replacement of products that may be affected has been recommended. Cobham was made aware of a U.S. Government investigation into SEAWARS in July and is fully co-operating this investigation.
