BMC Software Boosts Fiscal 2010 EPS View

BMC Software, Inc. (BMC) saw shares get a boost in after-hours when the company raised its outlook for fiscal 2010 non-GAAP earnings per share.
The company now expects adjusted earnings per share to range between $2.55 and $2.65 per share, compared to an earlier forecast in the range of $2.47 to $2.57 per share. The outlook is better than the Street’s consensus view of $2.51 per share for fiscal 2010, according to Reuters estimates.
In the second quarter, BMC reported net income rose to $94 million, or 50 cents per share, versus profit of $70 million or 36 cents per share in the year-ago quarter. Non-GAAP earnings were $123 million or 66 cents per share, compared to adjusted profit of $108 million or 56 cents per share a year ago.
Revenues fell slightly from a year ago, to $462 million, a decrease of 1 percent.
Shares of BMC rose 65 cents or 1.75% to $37.87 in trading after hours Thursday.
