Saks October Same-store Sales Up 0.7%

NEW YORK -- Saks Inc. said said Thursday that its October sales at stores open at least one year rose 0.7%. Analysts, on average, had expected same-store sales to fall 3.6%, according to Thomson Reuters. Total sales for the four weeks ended Oct. 31 rose 1.8% to $219.8 million. Saks reaffirmed that projected same-store sales for the second half of fiscal 2009 will decline in the mid-to-high single digit range.
