Retail Stocks Mixed As Initial Jobless Claims Fall

NEW YORK -- Retail stocks were mixed Thursday as initial jobless claims unexpectedly fell to their lowest level since July. Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. shares dropped 4.3% after the home furnishings retailer's stock was downgraded to neutral from outperform by Credit Suisse. Rite Aid Corp. shares fell 13% after it projected a wider-than-expected full-year loss. The S&P Retail Index was little changed at 380.75.
