Retail Stocks Drop; Polo Profit Tops Mark

NEW YORK - Retail stocks opened lower Tuesday while Polo Ralph Lauren Corp.'s investors cheered the stock after the company reported a surprise 10% jump in its fiscal second-quarter profit. The S&P Retail Index fell 0.5% to 381.85. Polo shares rose 2.8%.
