McDonald's Sales Rise in October
By Matt Egan
FOXBusiness
Driven by strong results in Europe, McDonald’s (MCD) said Monday its same-store sales climbed 3.3% globally in October.
However, the world’s largest hamburger chain said its U.S. sales were relatively flat, sinking 0.1% in October. In Europe, McDonald’s saw its same-store sales jump 6.4% in October, compared to a 4.7% increase in its Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa segment.
McDonald’s credited its results with strong demand for its dollar menu, premium Angus burgers and McCafe espresso-based coffees.
Shares of McDonald’s climbed in pre-market trading on the sales news, touching $62.50 after closing at $61.72 on Friday.
The company’s stock has jumped nearly 9% over the past month but is flat year-to-date.
