NEW YORK -- Early indications of traffic and sales on Black Friday are pointing to "very good signs" to the holiday shopping season, said Macy's Inc. Chief Executive Terry Lundgren in an interview, adding that more than 5,000 customers waited outside of Macy's flagship store on 34th street in New York before it opened at 5 a.m. "So far it's encouraging," Lundgren said. "We pull out all stops. As long as it's got great perceived value, consumers are buying. The best quantities and the best values are now. Our marketing is so clear and obvious that you don't have to wait till the end of the season."
