Dr. Pepper Snapple Posts 3Q Profit

Dr. Pepper Snapple Group (DPS) posted third-quarter earnings up sharply from a year earlier.
The company earned $151 million, or 59 cents per share, versus $106 million, or 41 cents per share, a year earlier. Excluding items, the company would have earned 54 cents per share, up from 45 cents.
Analysts had expected revenue of $1.44 billion, or 44 cents per share.
Dr. Pepper posted sales of $1.4 billion, down 4%. Sales would have come in at 2% when currency fluctuations and the loss of the Hansen product distribution are factored out.
The company expects 2009 profit to come in between $2.12 and $2.16 per share, or $1.92 to $1.96 on an adjusted basis.
