By Joanna Ossinger
FOXBusiness
AutoNation (AN) said it’s halting “Cash for Clunkers” sales as of Friday, prior to the official end of the government program, The Wall Street Journal reported.
AutoNation has sold more than 10,500 vehicles with the rebates, the Journal said.
The Cash for Clunkers program offers rebates of up to $4,500 for people who turn in older gas guzzlers and buy more fuel-efficient vehicles. The Department of Transportation has said the program will end at 8 p.m. Eastern time on Monday.
