In the wide and varied family of the thousands and thousands of funds out there, the exchange-traded fund is one of the more consumer-friendly ones.
Unlike mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, or ETFs, behave more like stocks. You can buy
into an ETF at any time, and sell it whenever you feel like it. And like a stock, an ETF's value can rise and fall--depending
on what the ETF is invested in.What do ETFs invest in? Well, they're typically linked to an index like the Dow Jones Industrial
Average or the S&P 500. So, if you had an ETF that trades the same companies that make up the Dow or the S&P, it will
rise and fall in value pretty much the same amount as the Dow or S&P.
You can also buy ETFs that invest in other
types of products, like bonds, currencies, gold or other commodities. The ETF market has grown considerably in the past few
years, so there is no shortage of ETFs to invest in.

US Airways Group, Inc. Reports June Traffic
Comtex
TEMPE, Ariz., Jul 07, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) ----US Airways Group, Inc. (NYSE:LCC) today reported June, second quarter and year-to-date 2008 traffic results. Mainline revenue passenger miles (RPMs) for the month were 5.7 billion, down 0.5 percent from June 2007. Capacity was 6.7 billion available seat miles (ASMs), up 0.4 percent versus June 2007. Passenger load factor for the month of June was 85.0 percent, down 0.8 points versus June 2007.
US Airways President Scott Kirby said, "June consolidated (mainline and Express) passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) increased between two and four percent versus the same period last year. As we progress through the busy summer travel season, we continue to see strength in our forward bookings. We are also encouraged to see that the industry is taking the appropriate steps with further domestic capacity reductions and implementing a la carte pricing models to help offset this dramatic and unprecedented rise in fuel expense."
For the month of June US Airways' preliminary on-time performance as measured by the DOT was 76.3 percent, with a completion factor of 98.1 percent.
The following summarizes US Airways Group's traffic results for the month, quarter and year-to-date ended June 30, 2008 and 2007, consisting of mainline operated flights as well as US Airways Express flights operated by wholly owned subsidiaries PSA Airlines and Piedmont Airlines.
