MGM announced Monday it has partnered with Google’s (GOOG) YouTube to show a selection of full-length MGM films and television shows on the site for free.

“Our agreement with YouTube opens the door to a number of themed broadband channels that will both serve the consumers' growing appetite for entertainment media consumption in the digital space and ‘on demand’ space,” said Jim Packer, co-president of MGM Worldwide Television.

Two new ad-supported MGM “channels” will be added to the YouTube Web site, which will allow users to watch television shows, such as “American Gladiators,” as well as popular full-length movies, from “Rocky” to “Legally Blonde.”

An American Gladiators channel will be devoted completely to this TV show, while Impact will show a selection of MGM’s action films. Impact is based on an on-demand cable service available to Comcast (CMCSA) subscribers. MGM said it plans to launch more YouTube channels soon.

New films and TV shows will be added each month.

    Open Outcry

If you've seen TV footage of an active trading pit, you've probably noticed the atmosphere is uproarious and wild. The reason for all the shouting? Open outcry.

On exchange floors that use the open-outcry system, traders shout prices they want to sell while others yell back the price they want to buy at. They also use hand gestures to communicate with each other.

This system has been used for a long time, but is being replaced with modern technology. Some argue electronic exchanges can do the job faster and more accurately. One of the few exchanges that continue to use open outcry is the New York Mercantile Exchange.
