Exchange-Traded Fund

In the wide and varied family of the thousands and thousands of funds out there, the exchange-traded fund is one of the more consumer-friendly ones.

Unlike mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, or ETFs, behave more like stocks. You can buy into an ETF at any time, and sell it whenever you feel like it. And like a stock, an ETF's value can rise and fall--depending on what the ETF is invested in.What do ETFs invest in? Well, they're typically linked to an index like the Dow Jones Industrial Average or the S&P 500. So, if you had an ETF that trades the same companies that make up the Dow or the S&P, it will rise and fall in value pretty much the same amount as the Dow or S&P.

You can also buy ETFs that invest in other types of products, like bonds, currencies, gold or other commodities. The ETF market has grown considerably in the past few years, so there is no shortage of ETFs to invest in.

TechTarget's ITKnowledgeExchange.com Named One of Media Business Magazine's ''10 Great Web Sites''

NEEDHAM, Mass., Jun 18, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) ----Information technology (IT) media company TechTarget, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTGT) today announced that its ITKnowledgeExchange.com(TM) IT social media Web site has been named as one of the "10 Great Web Sites" in the June Media Business magazine special report. ITKnowledgeExchange.com provides IT professionals with forums to ask questions, obtain answers, collaborate, and exchange knowledge with their peers. All content within the community is peer generated and includes contributions by industry experts interested in supporting the IT community with their expertise.

Other sites recognized by Media Business include CNNMoney (Time Warner), MarketWatch (Dow Jones & Co.), and Aviation Week (McGraw-Hill Cos.).

The Media Business report references several ITKnowledgeExchange.com user features that make the site outstanding, including MyWatchList(TM), "which allows users to follow questions of interest and provides updates when new content is added; tag-based navigation that allows users to click on a tag to find all related questions and answers for that topic"; and the Answer Wiki(TM), "a collaboration tool that allows multiple users to create, improve or edit any answer on the site. Like on Wikipedia, users can view the history of an answer and see all the revisions that have been made."

Media Business also cites ITKnowledgeExchange.com's method for facilitating peer-to-peer collaboration and information exchange, and generating new content contributions, "Knowledge Points, which users earn by asking, answering or discussing questions. Answering questions yields 15 points; asking, 5; and discussing, 10." Knowledge Points are accumulated by site users to earn a position on the list of the top 10 content contributors and other acknowledgements.

"We are extremely pleased to receive this recognition from Media Business magazine, particularly since ITKnowledgeExchange.com was launched less than one year ago and has already established itself in the IT community," said Greg Strakosch, CEO of TechTarget. "It appears that we have been successful in identifying the key elements to facilitate information exchanges among IT professionals, aligning it with our editorial- and vendor-generated content, and extending TechTarget's value proposition to technology vendors through increasingly-focused and highly-engaged audiences."

A complete list of winners can be found in the June issue of Media Business magazine.
